Senior Deaconess Sunhwa Kim | 53, Parish 15 in Manmin Central Church


Seven years ago, I was diagnosed with pituitary tumor after a health checkup at Seoul National University Hospital. Suddenly, I felt hot all over my face and body, and I had cold sweat and intermittent headaches. My husband massaged me with all his might and I calmed down. At 4 or 5 p.m., I felt so tired and all my energy seemed to be drained out. I had to lie down for an hour. The doctor told me that the tumor was not big enough to require surgery and wait a little more. And he told me to take medicine once a week.
In preparation of Manmin summer retreat 2023, I realized I lacked a longing for spirit and determined to receive healing by faith in the retreat.
In July, a 21-day Vowed Daniel Prayer Meeting was held and my parish invited Boknim Lee, President of the Manmin Prayer Center to lead a special prayer meeting. When she laid her hands on my head, I felt warm and cozy as cotton wool. That feeling lingered until I returned home after the prayer meeting.
After that, a big change occurred in my body. The symptoms of fever, cold sweats, and headaches were gone, and the extreme fatigue that used to come every 4 or 5 p.m. disappeared. In the results of a regular checkup at Seoul National University Hospital in October of that year, the size of the tumor was confirmed to have decreased significantly, and I needed no more medication I had been taking for 7 years. Hallelujah!
In addition, I received healing for osteoarthritis of the knees before the summer retreat this year. At the end of last year, I came back from my usual walking exercise, but both my knees started to hurt and ache. As time went by, the pain got worse and I could not walk for even 20-30 minutes. I could not bend or straighten my knees, and when I got up from my seat, I had to support my arms, so my wrists got numb. Eventually, my back hurt so much that I could not even do walking exercises.
Early May of this year, I went to the hospital and was told by the doctor, “You have early-stage osteoarthritis. You need to get a joint injection and physical therapy once a week.” I had been healed of the pituitary tumor by faith last year in preparation of Manmin summer retreat 2023. So, I desired to get healed in the retreat this time as well.
In July, I attended a 21-day Vowed Daniel Prayer Meeting in preparation of the summer retreat and studied on ‘The Message of the Cross’ fasting in the morning and giving thanksgiving offerings. One day, I thought ‘Arthritis is so painful and difficult, and how did the Lord bear the heavy cross?’ and repented in tears for not having given thanks in everything. When Senior Pastor Soojin Lee prayed at the end of a Daniel Prayer Meeting, a bright light flashed through me three times and I gained the assurance of healing.
On the last day of the 21-day Vowed Daniel Prayer Meeting, on the way back home, I could walk with no pain in the knees and back at all. Since I had no pain, I could walk straight without any swaying. My osteoarthritis was healed.
I give all thanks and glory to the Lord of love who was whipped and shed His blood for us and freeed us from the pain of every kind of disease.
