My family lived in Nevada, US for a long time. In August 2010, we moved to California. There, I adapted myself to a new environment and attended the services of Manmin Central Church in Seoul every Sunday via internet. By doing so, I could strengthen the foundation of my faith and became aware of how important it is to become sanctified. I started to pray diligently and do everything with prayer. I also studied hard as a student.
By the grace of God, when I was a junior, I transferred to the Mathematics Department of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). It is one of the most prestigious universities located on the West Coast in the U.S. I even earned a full scholarship that would cover tuition fees until graduation. I began to go to UCLA in September, 2012. I was very busy because I had many things to study and got involved in extracurricular activities. However, I allocated specific time for evangelizing students on the campus. I thought that it was the reason why God sent me here.
My greatest desire is to become a man of spirit by growing up in faith quickly and becoming a source of strength to Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee who is my shepherd. So, I join Daniel Prayer Meeting via internet and I also offer up more prayer for souls' salvation for around an hour. I pray crying out in my car not to bother my roommate, listen to Dr. Lee's sermon on the way to school and the way back home through my MP3 player. I try to live according to the Word of God.
My younger brother, Changyung Kim is now a tenth grader and attends Woodbridge High School in Irvine, California. The school has a high reputation in California. He also has to spend a lot of time doing his school assignments, extracurricular activities, and social services. Nevertheless, he reads the Bible, memorizes a verse, and prays sincerely every day. He is diligently spreading the gospel to his friends.
God blessed him to be selected as a student who showed educational excellence in 2012 and won the presidential award from US President Barack Obama. This prize is given to students who achieved learning goals with enthusiasm. He and I are trying our best every day to be both honor students and excellent Christians.
I appreciate Senior Pastor Dr. Lee teaching us a life of true value and leading us to live a life that pleases the Lord and glorifies God. Thank you.
