The WCDN's 9th International Christian Medical Conference was held in Kenya, Africa and attended by approximately 400 doctors and medical professionals from 37countries. The eight case presentations that show the works of the living God and various special lectures made attendees break their own framework of understanding on medical knowledge and planted faith in them.
On May 25 and 26, 2012, the 9th International Christian Medical Conference was held in Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi Kenya hosted by WCDN (World Christian Doctors Network).
The Conference was held under the theme of "Spirituality and Medicine" and approximately 400 doctors and medical professionals from 37 countries attended. On May 25, Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee, founder and board chairman of WCDN, delivered an on screen message and asked the audience, "Through God's healing works, I hope you will deliver the love of God to as many souls as possible."
WCDN President Dr. Gilbert Chae gave an opening address and explained the background and purpose of WCDN along with the vision of Christian doctors. After that, in her welcoming address, Dr. Zipporah Ngumi, the Conference Organizing Committee chairperson, emphasized the role of Christian doctors saying, "Local people have difficulties buying medicines even with the prescriptions from doctors. But when a Christian doctor prays for patients with faith, they can have faith and often get well."
Dr. Esther Kooyoung Chung, vice chairperson of United Holiness Church of Jesus Christ gave a keynote address. She awakened spirituality in doctors who attended, saying "The love for God is to keep His commandments. When you lead a holy life, you can receive blessings on the earth as well as in Heaven.
At the conference, eight divine healing cases were presented with medical data, four of which were performed through Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee's prayers or after handkerchiefs sent from other countries that he prayed over were laid on patients.
Dr. Joon-sung Kim of Department of Pediatrics, Ulsan University Hospital presented a few cases of improved visual acuity from divine healing prayers, and Dr. Chang-kyu Yang, director of Bansuk Internal Medicine-Radiology presented a case of healing of invasive ductal carcinoma in the breast through prayer.
A Kenyan doctor Edith Opala presented the healing case of a Sudanese former police officer Kenyi Michael who had suffered waist-down paralysis but was healed and stood up from his wheelchair and walked after a prayer from Bishop Dr. Myong-ho Cheong, chairman of the United Holiness Church of Jesus Christ, Africa. Dr. Brian S. Yeo presented the case of a Thai sister Rossarin who was suffering systemic Lupus erythematosus and severe side-effect of ciprofloxacin but was healed while receiving Dr. Jaerock Lee's prayer on GCN TV.
During these presentations of divine healing cases with no medical treatment, doctors in attendance broke their own framework of understanding on medical knowledge and became amazed at the almighty power of God.
A female Indian doctor Brinda Venktraman presented the case of a woman who had suffered from lumbar disc herniation for 18 years and received healing by prayer without any surgery. Dr. Zipporah Ngumi gave a presentation about an African woman who couldn't move and eat because a buffalo had attacked her and the horn had pierced the skin of her thigh but she was healed by a pastor's prayer. Dr. Elio. A. Coradin from Dominican Republic presented a healing case of low grade uterine stromal sarcoma. Dr. Armando Pineda-Velez from the U.S. presented a healing case of pseudomembranous colitis.
The case presentations were followed by a question and answer session. Some whose cases were presented themselves attended the conference, and caught the audience's attention. Moreover, there were special lectures that enabled them to combine medicine with spirituality.
In his closing address, Bishop Dr. Myongho Cheong of Nairobi Manmin Holiness Church said, "Now it is the Word of God that is the most necessary for doctors. This is because when they have knowledge on the Word of God, they can preach the gospel to their patients and pray for them with faith."
Pastor Vasiliy Votovich who runs a TV company in the U.S. said, "We broadcast the WCDN Conference every year, and it has been well-reviewed by viewers. I believe that a number of people will receive salvation when the doctors in attendance preach the gospel and pray for their patients while examining them."
WCDN that hosted this conference is a group of Christian doctors transcending denominations and headquartered in South Korea. WCDN is helping Christian doctors around the world develop fellowship and friendship with each other and has made incredible progress year by year, hosting the International Christian Medical Conference every year, presenting divine healing cases, and giving key note address on Christian doctors' duties. WCDN is planning to hold the conference in Mexico next year.
