Since the founding on the 10th of October 1982, Manmin Joong-ang Church and its senior pastor Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee has spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and the powerful works of God to the whole world so that they could accomplish the national evangelization and world mission. In 2005, the year of glory and blessing, God has showed more surprising works than ever. Now let's look back at the past history of Mnamin that God has blessed to this day.


Start and revival (1982 - 1990)

Establishing service

On the 17th of April, 1974, Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee, who used to be seriously ill and wander before the threshold of death for 7 years, was guided at a church by his sister. As soon as he knelt down to pray there, he was healed of all his diseases and accepted the Lord. A few months later he attended a revival meeting and came to understand the will of God. After that he fasted as much as he has been able and later he was called as a servant of God.
According to His will, he founded a church with 13 members including 4 children on the 25th of July in 1982. God told him that he would have the establishment service on the day when crops would ripen and the first frost come down. Exactly 77 days later, on the 10th of October, about 150 members had the establishing service.

Manmin church grew so fast and two years later we moved out to more than 660-square-meter-building. After that tens of newcomers registered every week and it came to have more than 3,000 members in 4 years since its founding. In 1987, Rev. Dr. Lee's testimonial book "Tasting Eternal Life before Death" was published and church newspaper "Manmin Joong-ang News" was printed. Rev. Dr. Lee's testimony was dramatized and broadcast on "Renew us" of CBS (Christian Broadcasting System). His sermon began to be broadcast on CBS and FEBC in Korea and many other broadcasting stations in overseas countries.
In 1989, Rev. Dr. Lee and his church met with a big difficulty. He had testified to the living God and the Lord Jesus Christ but was wrongfully accused without reason. Finally he was dismissed from pastorate and his church was excommunicated. It was a secret wisdom and plan of God that Rev. Dr. Lee might form a new denomination and accomplish God's providence.

Manmin Joong-ang Church was selected as one of the 50 world greatest churches

In the July of 1991, God let Rev. Dr. Lee organize the United Holiness Church of Korea so that he could bear the fruit of national evangelization and world mission. Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee was executive coordinator of the Holy Spirit World Explo Crusade in 1992 and the Jubilee Meeting for the Unification of the South and North in 1995 and is permanent president of the World Christianity Revival Mission Association. With those tasks and titles he has played an important role in national evangelization.
In 1993, Manmin Joong-ang Church was selected as one of the world top 50 churches by the "Christian World" US magazine and he received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Christian Faith College, Florida, USA, and in 1996 a Ph. D. in Ministry from Kingsway Theological Seminary, Iowa, USA. And since the July of 1993, he conducted many pastors' conferences and evangelization & revival meetings in Hawaii of USA, Argentina, and Shinsu of Japan in 1996, Washington DC, Baltimore of USA and Argentina in 1997.

Trials and the power of God (1999 - 2004)

Manmin Joong-ang Church suffered three big trials in 1998 and 1999, but they were given in the love and for the blessing of God. God allowed those trials so that we could reach the level of perfect love, and in the May of 1999, a broadcasting station in Korea wrongfully reported Manmin Joong-ang Church. Trials went severer, but many brothers and sisters came together and prayed just as fire spreads when it is hit. Despite persecutions, they followed the good way in God;s sight and spread the aroma of Christ.
We overcame all those trials with faith and love following the example of our Lord Jesus who fulfilled the law with love, and God began to give us wonderful blessing. In the March of 2000, when Rev. Dr. Lee prayed, the salty seawater of Muan was changed into sweet one. In addition through the changed "Muan sweet water", handkerchiefs Rev. Dr. Lee prayed on, and his prayer recorded on ARS (Automatic Response System on the telephone) God's powerful works took place, and when he prayed on photos sent from overseas countries, many were healed transcending the limitation of space.
God let Rev. Dr. Lee conduct great overseas crusades from the year of 2000, so that hundreds of thousands or millions of people gathered and amazing works of God the Creator were manifested. 2000 Uganda Holy Gospel Crusade was broadcast on CNN, 2000 Pakistan Crusade shook an Islamic country and opened the gate of the gospel for Islamic countries. In the 2001 Kenya Holy Gospel Crusade many kinds of diseases were healed including AIDS and in the 2001 Philippine Crusade God's powerful works were shown explosively. In 2002, the hurricane "Jesus" swept across Honduras and Central America through the 2002 Honduras Crusade and 2002 India Miracle Healing Prayer Festival was attended by more than 3 millions in total though it is a predominantly-Hindu country.
In 2003, we opened the gate for spreading the gospel in the Middle East countries through Dubai Mission and 2003 Russia Miracle Healing Festival was broadcast to about 150 countries. In 2004, the next year we spread the holiness gospel to the whole Europe through the 2004 Miracle Festival in Germany and the 2004 Peru Healing Crusade was successfully held with the supports of political, economic, journalistic and religious leaders including the President of Peru.

The Grand Sanctuary and spreading the gospel to the end of the earth (2005 - )

In 2005, with the increasing power of creation transcending time and space, God's providence for the end time of the world, the Grand Sanctuary, and the achievement of the Great Commission has been revealed in detail.
God has controlled everything so that the holiness gospel could be spread to the whole world where world power including US, EU, and China and Russia are competing. His providence is that we should spread the holiness gospel to the North Korea, China, Middle East and Israel, the origin of the gospel.
The religion of Israel is Judaism and most of Israelis do not consider Jesus as the Savior. For us to preach the gospel to them requires that we should show them tangible evidences of the living God. They did not realize Jesus is the Son of God but crucified Him, but God has given them unchanging love the way a nursing mother cannot forget her baby.
To spread the gospel to the ends of the earth we need to show amazing power of God that will shake the heavens and the earth. That's why we celebrated the launch of GCN in honor of the 23rd church anniversary so that we would spread the holiness gospel and amazing works of God's power to the whole world through broadcasting media.
God wants the Grand Sanctuary to be built by those who love Him with true heart and have true faith. He gave us visions of the Grand Sanctuary since the founding of Manmin Joong-ang Church and we have prayed for it to this day. The construction of the Grand Sanctuary tells us that Korea will be the center of world mission and we will show the fiery works of the Holy Spirit and prepare an ark of salvation to receive the Lord Jesus Christ.
