Suppose sheep are left to graze alone. Without a shepherd, they couldn't defend themselves from devouring beasts. A shepherd may protect them and lead them to green pastures and quiet waters for them to grow strong and fat. It is applicable to plants, too. When people take good care of plants by providing enough water and nutrients, protecting them from storms, and eliminating harmful insects, they will grow well and bear abundant fruit. These loving cares seem to influence the growth of both animals and plants. In the same manner, when God's hands of love touch people, they can live safe and abundant lives. It's because God becomes their Shepherd and leads them to the most blessed way.
"The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want" (Psalm 23:1).
