In "The Tortoise and the Hare" from Aesop's fables, the hare lost the race because it stopped to slept in the middle of the race. Some Christians live their believing lives like the hare. They run ahead of others for a while, but they soon become conceited thinking they are doing well. For instance, some believers become lazy when they receive more important duties or when they receive blessings. To keep from spiritually falling asleep in our Christian lives we must continuously hunger and thirst for righteousness all the time. We need to meditate on the Word of God every day and endeavor to apply the word to our lives (1 Corinthians 10:12).
