This is Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee, Senior Pastor of Manmin Central Church in Seoul, Korea. I wish for your life to be filled with God's love and blessing. I want to share God's grace with you through this message titled "A Person Who Is Careful about His Deeds."
Some people easily turn to the left or to the right according to the words of their friends or neighbors. They pay close attention to rumors about others, gossip about the rumors and spread them to many people causing judging and condemning of the victims. If a close friend of theirs tells them a lie, they accept it and finally meet with difficulties.
This is illustrated in 2 Kings 12, with Joash the king of Judah. While all the royal heirs were destroyed, Joash was barely rescued and later enthroned with the help of Priest Jehoiada. At first Joash did what was right in God's sight during the days of Jehoiada the priest, but after the death of Jehoiada, the king listened to the wicked officials of Judah who came and bowed down before him.
The king and the officials abandoned God and served idols. God's wrath came upon Judah, and Judah was invaded by the army of the Arameans. The army came with a small number of men; yet God delivered the very great army of Judah into their hands. And King Joash was murdered by his own servants who conspired against him.
A foolish man is easily turned to the left or the right by the words of others, and is not able to produce good results. A good-hearted person is not shaken by the words of wicked people, nor does he judge others before he sees with his eyes and firsthand experiences. Even though he has seen with his eyes, he doesn't spread what he knows to others.
Proverbs 14:15 says, "The naive believes everything, But the sensible man considers his steps." Evan when the same words are spoken, the interpretations are different depending on the speakers. And, the meanings of a single word may vary according to its intonation, stress and tempo.
That's why it is very foolish to judge or condemn others just with words conveyed by others. If you act in a recklessly and carelessly based on what you've heard, you may be faced with irrevocable mistakes or misfortune.
May each of you abstain from a foolish way in which you doubt, judge and condemn others just with the words conveyed, but act wisely and prudently in everything, in the name of our Lord I pray! |
