I wish for your life to be filled with God's love and blessing. Now I want to share the grace with you through the message titled with "Goodness of Seeking the Right Way."
The right way refers to the things that men should necessarily keep. Children should serve their parents, brothers and sisters share love one another, and juniors honor their seniors. When people follow the right way they have to keep, they can be said to seek the duty of man. One of the very persons that kept the right way and received blessing is Ruth recorded in the Old Testament.
Ruth was a Moabite woman and was married to a Hebrew man who had moved into the land of Moab because of famine. But the family's men all died without leaving any descendants. The remnant people were three; Naomi and two daughters-in-law, Orpah and Ruth. The mother Naomi heard that there was abundance in harvest in Bethlehem in Judah and made up her mind to return to her homeland. And she told them to come back to their homes and have peace in their house.
Orpah cried and kissed Naomi and reluctantly returned her home. But Ruth did not. In Ruth 1:16 Ruth said, "Do not urge me to leave you or turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God."
Her heart of fulfilling the duty of man was not changing, and she followed her mother-in-law up to the strange land of Judah. Ruth sought the right way up to the point of sacrificing herself. If she had returned her mother's home, she would lead a peaceful life along with her family and kinsmen. But she chose to serve her mother-in-law. This choice seems to be some loss, but God who sees the heart of each one necessarily pays back with good things.
When Ruth did the duty of man, she did it unchangingly with sincerity and truthfulness. Since she came up with her mother-in-law, she never regretted of her choice but served her mother-in-law with the same heart that she had possessed first. When she moved into the land of Bethlehem along with her mother-in-law, she immediately had to gain food. She joyfully picked up grains that had fallen to the ground and served her mother-in-law with them. She measured her mother-in-law's heart, so she told her mother-in-law everything that happened all day long in detail and honored her in love.
This deed of Ruth was known to the people in Bethlehem and she was praised. This news was heard to Boaz who was one of the leaders of the village and the second closest kinsman worthy to redeem the land for Naomi. Finally, Boaz married Ruth and Obed was born of them, who was the father of Jesse, father of David. Thus, her name was recorded in the genealogy of Jesus.
May you unchangingly not only perform the whole duty of man to your family and the people around you with good heart like Ruth did but also seek and do the right way in the sight of God so that you can receive the love and blessing God has prepared, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ I pray! |
