Scripture: Deuteronomy 10:13 "and to keep the LORD's commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today for your good?"
I wish for your life to be filled with God's love and blessing. Now I want to share the grace with you through the message entitled "God's Love Embedded in the Ten Commandments."
Let me give you a story I experienced a little while after I founded a church. I once visited a couple who had not had a baby during a few years of their marriage. I led the home worship service by the guidance of the Holy Spirit and blessed them in prayer. And I gave them a command of God. I asked them to keep the Ten Commandments including the commands of giving whole tithes and keeping the Lord's Day.
At that time they were beginners, but came to keep the Lord's Day holy and give the whole tithes. As that result, they could receive the blessing conception of a child, and later the wife gave birth to a healthy child. In addition, the husband received financial blessings and was entitled to an elder of my church.
Our keeping the commands of God including the Ten Commandments can be likened to carrying a lamp while walking in darkness. If we carry a lamp in our hand, we do not stumble down even in darkness. In the same way, if our God who is light is with us, we can be protected in any circumstances and enjoy such right and blessings as the children of God are entitled to.
Not only for the people of Israel but also for all the believers in God are the Ten Commandments the command of God and the shortcut to the blessing and love of God.
God gave us the commands so that we can understand how we can meet God and receive His blessings and lead peaceful and happy lives in Him.
As a nation has its laws, so are the laws of the spiritual realm in the kingdom of God. So, just as we are to observe the rules of the world, we are also to obey and keep the laws of the kingdom of God after we have accepted Jesus as our Savior and received the right of His children and gained the citizenship of heaven.
Thus, the ultimate reason that God has given us His commands is to give us His blessings in His love. In other words, through obeying the commands of God, He wishes for us not only to enjoy eternal life in heaven but also to receive God's blessings and be successful and prosperous in everything we do on earth. If you understand this love of God, you can give thanks for the commands and keep them with joy.
Therefore, the commands of God assigned for us can be called "the book of love" that presents to us the path to the greatest blessings during the cultivation of mankind. They play the role in preventing us from all kinds of disasters and guiding us into all sorts of blessings.
The reason God gives us His commands is not to punish those of us who violate them but to lead every of us to enjoy eternal life in the beautiful heaven when we keep His commands. Therefore, it is said in Deuteronomy 10:13, "and to keep the LORD's commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today for your good?" May each of you realize this heart and love of God and keep His commands so that you can enjoy the blessings He gives, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ I pray!
