Scripture: Matthew 5:5 "Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth."
I hope for your life to be filled with God's love and blessing. Now I want to share the grace with each of you through this message titled with "One Who Inherits the Earth."
When Abraham Lincoln was a novice at the law firm, a lawyer named Edwin Stanton ignored and hated him. Later when Lincoln became the president, the lawyer blamed Lincoln in public. President Lincoln appointed him as the Secretary of Defense. Then, he announced to the people about the matter, saying "It doesn't matter if he has ignored and blamed me hundreds of times. He is so faithful to his duties and has such great assurance and driving force to overcome difficulties that he is equal to the position of the Secretary of Defense."
Lincoln was not oppressed with personal ill-feelings but embraced even those who caused troubles to him. As a result, Edwin Stanton was so moved at Lincoln's gentle and meek heart and became one of his enthusiastic supporters. God wants us to have this meek attitude.
"To be meek" signifies "to be gentle and kind." God wants you to be meek, gentle and virtuous enough to embrace everyone like cotton. No matter how many times you may throw a stone onto cotton, the cotton embraces the stone without any sound. In the same way, if you accomplish really meek heart, you can live at pace with everyone in any circumstances.
And you can accept even those whose thoughts and knowledge do not agree with yours, and do not judge or condemn anyone and anything. You can cover and understand others and serve them in humility.
God praises Moses in Numbers 12:3, "Now the man Moses was very humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth." For 40 years, Moses endured and guided the people of Israel who had continued complaining and grumbling against him in the long years of wilderness and even tried to stone him to death. This helps us understand how humble and meek Moses was.
If you want to posses this meekness and humbleness Moses did, first of all, you have to get rid of every form of evil from your heart. When you try your best and endeavor to practice the word of God, you can receive God's grace and strength and Holy Spirit's help and throw away evils. And when you do not give up but continue practicing the word of God in prayers and with faith, you can be completely transformed.
Thus, you can become a truly gentle man, and as said in Matthew 5:5, "Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth," you can receive the land as inheritance in the kingdom of heaven. If you fail to inherit the proper land in heaven, how and where shall your eternal mansion be built?
Therefore, may each of you accomplish the gentle heart as God wants so that you cannot only receive as many blessings on earth but also will possess as broad and good lands as your eternal inheritance and enjoy honor and glory for ever more, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ I pray! |
